My Signature Style

Over decades of shooting photographs around the world, I have collected thousands of pictures.

This ever growing library of proprietary images forms the basis of my work today. Where once I strove to minimize any changes to my black and white photographs printed in a darkroom, today I embrace color and texture to manipulate digital pixels into original works of art.

Using the Blend Mode function in Adobe Photoshop, I layer images, infuse color and add layer textures – transforming the representational into some abstract and personal. The subject of a final image may not be what it actually is in real life. That is part of the fun and the magic.

The process begins with a one-on-one, no cost, no obligation consultation.  For each commission, you will have a choice of one of 3 different renditions (based on your style, taste, and color preferences) and then 3 rounds of color and exposure adjustments. There is an added change for additional rounds of changes.

How does the commission process work?

My commissions are all about personal interaction and customization.  I don’t use AI.

We start with a no cost assessment of a picture you enhanced. We discuss whether it’s a good fit for a commission, why it’s important to you, what styles and colors you prefer, what tone do you want to convery (eg, modern, edgy, comical, nostalgic) and if you have examples of photographs that may serve as a guide.

Ideal subjects for my layering process include prized objects, special events (eg wedding dress/first car), places (eg home or vacation photo).

The process includes 3 different renderings and 3 revisions of your photograph. There is added charge for additional rounds of renderings and revisions. You will receive a proof before final print is made.

I require 50 percent up front and the remainder on delivery. Once approved, all sales are final.

Can you describe the printing process?

You have a choice of 3 types of paper that vary in weight and surface. You can select white border or borderless prints of sizes typically 8×10, 11×14 and 16×20. The size of the print will be based on the image quality of the original.

To ensure premium quality that captures the original colors and details with incredible precision, my printing is done using a fine arts giclee process. “Giclée” refers to a high-quality printing method (compared to standard inkjet printing) where tiny ink droplets are sprayed onto archival paper to create a very accurate copy of the original artwork.

Do you work with both digital and print photographs?

I can work with both print and digital images, but prints will need to be scanned into a digital file. I can do it for an additional fee or you can bring have a camera store or online service do it.

What is an ideal resolution (number of pixels) and file size for the best results?

Resolution refers to the number of pixels used to create an image or display. Higher resolution means more pixels, leading to a sharper, more detailed image or display.

Standard Print Quality: For high-quality prints, a resolution of at least 300 pixels per inch (PPI) or 300 dots per inch (dpi) is recommended. This is suitable for photographs and detailed images.  I can work with you to help you determine the size of the file.

I can work with JPEG, TIFF and PNG file formats. JPEG files are generally smaller than TIFF files, but they can also result in some loss of quality. TIFF is a lossless format, meaning it retains all the image data.
